1st snow (hasn't snowed as of this writing)

It's supposed to snow a bit today which always lightens my mood--sorry for all you snow haters out there.  Anyway, this little poem came to me this AM and I thought I'd share it.  These pics are just random snow photos from yrs past, NOT current pics.  :- )



Snow Therapy

Whenever I feel low
the good Lord makes it snow
to remind me of his kindnesses.

And when those snowflakes come
I'm reminded I'm not "home"
which returns me to heaven-mindedness.

So when you see it snowing
don't curse the white flakes blowing
but remember the one who's sad.

And ask the Lord to bless
your friend who sees snow best
as God's good gift, not bad!

Easter and springtime 2012

Longwood!

We went to Longwood to meet Me-mom one early spring day and as usual, the flowers were lovely.

 My favs--hydrangeas and daffodils al together in one place!

 Sam's fav--water fountains.  :- )  I never remember to bring an extra shirt, either...

Easter pics-- we went to Me-mom's for dinner but stopped at Aunty Peg's to take some pics for her to see what her yard looks like in spring, since she's always in Fla, missing the budding trees etc.

Took Sam's new kite, courtesy of Aunt Lucy, across the street to an open field and had a great time flying it w/no power lines or trees to worry about.

Christmas!

Amazing how far behind you can get in these blogs. I hear so many moms say it! Anyway--here's Christmas pics and another post on it's way...

We've started a new Christmas morning tradition of reading the nativity story 1st thing then singing happy birthday to Jesus.

Best part of this tradition is, of course, blowing out Jesus' birthday candle. :- )

"Can I eat these Pez, mommy? Will you load them?" Every year grand-daddy sends Pez for us all.

This year, Sam was given a workbench by grandpa/grandma in Indy--Sam calls it the "man desk!" We had it covered up w/a blanket. He leaned against it at one point, made the noisy saw go off and jumped away, saying--"what's that?!"

He was afraid to open it at first, but w/much encouragement, he finally unveiled it then was sooo happy he did. Loved it.

Sam also "bought" mommy and daddy gifts this yr-- he's so excited about this...

Grandmommy always makes something for Sam (usually for all of us). This yr, she put together a great Super hero costume, complete w/mask (which is upside down in this photo) and boots/shoe covers. She made a whole jumpsuit but he wdn't put it on at this point --too busy!

After Christmas morning (opening presents and going to church) we planned to have dinner at our house, too, but ended up going to Me-mom's in MD as Uncle Tom was too ill to travel north w/Me-mom. We were happy everyone got to meet up somewhere!

Catching up...

I am probably the only person in the wintry parts of this country lamenting that we've had a mild winter. Sam and I miss the snow. Last yr was "da BOMB" for snow. This yr, not snow much. So here's a few pics of our pathetic so-far snows and Sam doing his level best to enjoy it anyhow. He can make snowballs and find enough snow for "snowcream" in the lightest of dustings. :- )

Sam so desperately wanted it to snow so he could use the new kids' shovel we got him.

Madeline, Sam and Zachary--3 superhero buds. I love that these 3 live close enough to visit each other often.

Sam took soccer lessons on 8 consecutive Sat's, this winter,
Usually a blur...
He did a lot of running, little kicks thru cones--learning the basics! :- ) He really enjoyed his soccer mornings. Mommy enjoyed the 2 hrs free time while men went to soccer (I just went to the 1st one).

Our dishwasher finally gave up the ghost, after a long illness. :- ) Here's Sam helping daddy to change out the old for the new. We were only w/o a dishwasher for maybe a week--was I ever grateful (still am) for our new dishwasher! Sam learned his flat from philips screwdrivers this day.
Me-mom and Aunt Pam came up for cake and ice cream on Sam's actual b'day--a Tuesday. Sam and I made little hats for all of us to wear.

4 yr's old... wow.

We celebrated Sam's bday twice--once w/Memom and aunt Pam and once, a few days before on the weekend w/friends Machowski's, and Stephen and Warren stopped by, too.

The theme this year was firetrucks!
My friend/neighbor, Chrissi, helped me do the "grass and flames" decorations. Sam helped by nibbling the edges a bit before everyone had a chance to see it. turkey...

I made a beef and beans recipe one night and decided to call it Cowboy Stew, made everyone dress for the occasion, as if we're eating around the chuck wagon. Helped to encourage Sam to eat it! :- )
