"I'm twoooo!"

Yep, thass-right, our boy is TWO! He holds up one finger on each hand when he says it b/c he can't hold up 2 on one hand. :- ) We had a Thomas the Tank Engine theme--I had to get help from the professional, Karen VdV, to decorate this cake but I was pretty proud of our work in the end! (And it tasted yummy, that's what really counts, eh?!) Karen did the lettering for me--you wouldn't be able to read it if I'd written it. hee hee

Our buddy, "Kim-may-mon," dropped by bearing gifts for the big 2 yr old.
Grand-ma and grand-pa from Indy visited over the weekend so they got to attend the big party, too--they hadn't seen Sam since he was 7 mos old, quite a change! Of course, they loved and enjoyed him very much--who doesn't? hee hee

Mommy and Sam opening a gift before the crowd arrived--a Thomas Tank Engine whistle--he loved it!
Sam's college-aged cousins even made the trip from DE! What troopers--I love these guys! Can still remember when they were Sam's age. Megan used to call me "Me-bet." So sweet.
Aunt Pam and Gramma chilling out...
Sam loves his Unca-Bill. Here Sam is opening Pam and Bill's gift to him, a big airplane! He loves pointing out airplanes and "hac-a-bahs" (helicopters) in the sky.
Trucks from Grandpa and grandma, among other things. These make noise, too and one is remote controlled--way cool!
Sam here is playing w/maracas gramma got for him--a real treat as they make all kinds of music and noise. Right up his alley. :- )
Laying on the coffee table--not normally allowed... "they say it's his birthday..."
I call this series, "the annual cake fest." Pretty self-explanatory...

Our dear friend, Lois, also made it to the celebration-- here she is, serving others, as usual. :- )
Gramma enjoying the cake and fun
And a rare family photo w/everyone smiling and eyes open--amazing. Happy birthday Sam!

Christmas trip to Ga

Well, our Christmas trip to family in Georgia started w/the snowstorm of the year--2 feet of snow fell on our area the day before we began our 2 day journey. It sure was beautiful--mommy loves snow-- but it did stop a good deal of festivities and church services from happening that last weekend before Christmas.

This is the view from our side/back door and our birdfeeders the night the storm was in full force. I couldn't open the door because the snow was piled too high outside!

The next day--a winter wonderland... we did get Sam outside briefly, but all that filming was done on the video camera and I don't have it loaded in yet. :- (
You can barely see a little yellow loop in the middle of the picture below--it's Sam's lawnmower!
Day 1-we drove 12 hrs (shd've taken 8 or less but the snow slowed us a good bit) to our halfway point--friends Donna and Fred's house in NC. Here's Sam w/his two new buddies, Maggie and Mocha. He LOVED these pups!
Sam, Fred and the girls--Sam kept plopping onto their beds and saying "bed!"
Day 3-we arrived in Ga on day 2 in the evening, basically had a late dinner and hit the hay early. Sam still doesn't sleep in the car--falls alseep once or twice for 15 mins at a time but wakes crying b/c he can't turn over. He's a belly sleeper. Poor guy. But he kept a decent attitude for 4 long days of travel!

B's mom and dad have a nice wooded area behind their house and we explored it together the morning after arriving.
Then grandmommy got out the BIG bubbles--was THAT fun! :- )
And Sam got to sit on his daddy's Harley for the 1st time.
Christmas day--Sam needed help to open presents, of course. He was just happy we were letting him rip paper! :- )

Aunt Kim helping Sam w/a leapfrog toy...

Unca Ray, aunt Keeem and Sam at the dinner table...

How we ever managed to get this photo, I'll never know--1st try, too! Amazing when you consider we had a nearly 2 yr old and 4 yr old in the mix...
Sam and his cousin Samantha--he adored her. They had a great time playing together. He thinks Bryanna (his older cousin pictured above) is pretty cool, too.
That's our little Christmas story in photo. Wish I'd gotten a pic of Sam w/the other 2 dogs we met on the way home--Maddie and Marlo. He loved them too. Mommy is on a campaign to get us a dog sometime in the future. :- )

Hope you all had a great Christmas and happy new year.
